Health And Safety Representatives overview

Saferight’s Health and Safety Representative Training Perth is a WorkSafe WA-approved five-day course designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge to effectively represent their workplace in health and safety matters. This Health and Safety Representative training is compliant with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WHS Act), ensuring that participants are fully prepared to take on the role of an HSR.

As a Health and Safety Representative, your role is critical in promoting workplace safety. You’ll be responsible for identifying health and safety issues, communicating these concerns to management, and advocating for the well-being of your colleagues. Elected by fellow workers, an HSR must have a solid understanding of health and safety procedures to ensure compliance with workplace regulations.

Our Health and Safety Rep Training is tailored to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of WHS legislation, consultation processes, the tools needed to perform effective safety inspections and resolve safety concerns within your workplace, and you’ll cover the following key areas:

  • WHS Legislative Framework: Understand the framework and duties of various parties under the WHS Act.
  • WHS Terminology: Learn the essential terminology and how it applies to your role.
  • WorkSafe WA: Discover the role of WorkSafe WA and the penalties for non-compliance.
  • Consultation Mechanisms: Learn how to consult effectively on health and safety issues in the workplace.
  • HSR Roles and Entitlements: Gain an understanding of the protections, entitlements, and rights available to HSRs.
  • Negotiation and Conflict Resolution: Master skills for resolving safety issues through negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Hazard Identification and Control Measures: Learn how to identify hazards and take action to minimise risks.
  • Incident Notification and Investigation: Understand how to report and investigate incidents according to the law.
  • Issuing Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs): Learn how to issue PINs and direct unsafe work to cease.

This Health And Safety Representative Training provides the necessary training to ensure all activities comply with safety regulations and that the site operates efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Workers’ Interests: Communicate workers’ health and safety concerns to management.

  • Identify Hazards: Conduct workplace inspections to identify and assess risks.
