VOC Tip Truck overview

What Is a VOC Tip Truck Operations Assessment?

A VOC Tip Truck Operations assessment is a theory and practical assessment that confirms you’ve maintained the skills and knowledge behind your existing tip truck operations qualification.

A VOC (Verification of Competency) Tip Truck Operations assessment doesn’t replace your original qualification; it verifies that you’re still competent to operate a tip truck safely and effectively in civil construction, mining and earthmoving environments.

Specifically, this assessment confirms that an individual has maintained the skills and knowledge attained as per RIIVEH304E Conduct tip truck operations or equivalent.

Who Needs a VOC Tip Truck Operations Assessment?

Many WA civil construction, mining, earthmoving and resources employers require a current VOC, commonly one issued within the last two years, before you can operate a tip truck on their site.

You likely need a VOC Tip Truck Operations assessment if:

  • A mine site, civil construction project or employer has requested proof of current competency
  • Your workplace requires a VOC issued within the last two years for site access or tip truck operation
  • It’s been a while since you operated a tip truck and you need to demonstrate you’re still competent
  • A new employer or project requires verification before you start operating a tip truck

What You Need Before Booking

A VOC only verifies an existing qualification or prior competency. It is not nationally accredited training and does not replace your existing tip truck operations qualification. To be assessed, you must already hold:

A valid RIIVEH304E Conduct tip truck operations qualification, equivalent unit, or suitable evidence of prior competency and operating experience

If you don’t yet have the required tip truck qualification or experience, a VOC isn’t the right starting point. You’ll need to complete the full Tip Truck Operations course first. Before booking, please ensure you can provide evidence of your existing qualification and relevant tip truck operating experience.

  1. Must hold a valid high-risk work licence & Statement of Attainment for RIIVEH304E Conduct Tip Truck Operations or equivalent.
  2. Present a valid photo I.D. on arrival
  3. Ability to read, write and understand English. If you have any concerns about your Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) skills, we encourage you to contact us before enrolling.
