Fast Rescue Craft Operations Refresher overview
The Fast Rescue Craft Operations refresher course is aimed at those who have previously undertaken the complete Fast Rescue Craft Operations training course and need to refresh their knowledge and skills.
Work is performed independently within broad operational guidelines, requiring the ability to lead the rescue boat and its crew, taking responsibility for both personal and team outcomes. The unit emphasizes applying maritime survival principles and practices for launching and operating fast rescue crafts, as well as implementing established survival strategies and procedures.
Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the operations and risks associated with Fast Rescue Craft Operations, and will be able to:
1. Maintain fast rescue craft for operations
Identify design characteristics, outline capabilities, and maintain the craft as per specifications.
2. Prepare fast rescue craft and crew for operations
Outline and maintain launching equipment and motion compensation system, conduct pre-launch checks, stow emergency equipment, confirm responsibilities and readiness, and wear appropriate PPE.
3. Take charge of fast rescue craft during and after launch
Launch and operate the craft safely, manage engine power, perform maneuvers, ensure safety, use navigational and communication equipment, and maintain communication.
4. Respond to emergencies or malfunctions involving craft, equipment, and crew
Right capsized craft, swim in PPE, reboard, and perform emergency repairs.
5. Locate and retrieve casualties
Follow search patterns, approach and retrieve casualties safely, assess and lift casualties, apply first aid, and transfer to safety.
6. Recover fast rescue craft
Follow stand-down procedures, recover craft safely, and secure equipment for future use.

Entry Requirements
- Participants must hold a current Statement of Attainment for MARF034 – Carry Out Fast Rescue Craft Operations or equivalent issued within the last two (2) years prior to attending this course
- Must be 18 years old and above
- Present photo I.D. on arrival
- If you have any physical conditions that may affect your ability to complete a course, please visit a doctor and obtain a “Fit for Work” certificate, and send it to our bookings email.
- Please note, Saferight reserves the right to cancel your enrolment if this documentation is not provided and you are deemed unfit for training. Additionally, cancellation fees will apply if adequate notice is not given.
- Please bring a towel and appropriate swim attire for the in-water activities.
- Ability to read, write and understand English

If your LLN skills are assessed as needing improvement to meet the course requirements, we may recommend additional support or training to help you succeed.
