Certificate of Safety Training (COST)

The entry-level Certificate of Safety Training (COST) is essential for personnel working on Australian-registered vessels operating in international waters. This certification ensures a basic level of competence in personal survival techniques, fire prevention and firefighting, emergency procedures, and shipboard accident prevention, all aimed at reducing incidents and saving lives at sea.

The Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) is regulated in Australia by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), the national agency responsible for maritime safety and certification.

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the operations and risks associated with Certificate of Safety Training (COST), and will be able to:

Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (STCW Code A-VI/1):
