Store and handle dangerous goods and hazardous substances overview

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to safely identify, handle, and store dangerous goods and hazardous substances in the workplace.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Identify hazardous materials using class labels, manifests, and documentation.

  • Apply correct storage and handling procedures in line with legislation and site requirements.

  • Follow incident and emergency response procedures, including correct use of equipment and reporting processes.

  • Select and apply safe manual handling and load-shifting techniques for different classes of goods.

By the end of the course, participants will understand how to manage hazardous substances safely, minimise risks, and comply with WHS regulations.

You will be enrolled into the following unit of competency:

  1. Present a valid photo I.D. on arrival
  2. Minimum 18 years old
  3. Wear normal work clothing and enclosed footwear
  4. Ability to read, write and understand English

Your Statement of Attainment does not have an expiry date, however, industry standards recommend retraining every two years. The Unique Student Identifier (USI) must be supplied and verified prior to issuance.
