Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting overview

The Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting course is tailored for personnel working on sea vessels who need the Certificate of Safety Training (CoST) from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). This course equips participants with the necessary skills to prevent and control fires, and to respond effectively to fire emergencies onboard a vessel.

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the operations and risks associated with Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting, and will be able to:

  • Minimise Fire Risk: Maintain readiness to respond to fire emergencies.
  • Fire Fighting: Learn techniques to fight and extinguish fires.
  • Fire Prevention: Implement strategies to actively prevent fires.
  • Prepare for Fire Response: Develop readiness to combat fire situations.
  • Combat Fire: Engage in hands-on fire fighting exercises.
  • Post-Fire Activities: Conduct activities required after extinguishing a fire.

This comprehensive training ensures that seafarers are prepared to handle fire emergencies, maintain safety standards, and effectively manage fire risks onboard vessels.

CPCCLRG4001 Licence to perform rigging advanced level
  1. Must be 18 years old and above
  2. Present photo I.D. on arrival
  3. Complete a ‘Fitness to Complete Training’ form upon arrival at the training facility. The student is required to declare any medical issue that may exclude them from full participation
  4. Be clean shaven and remove all jewellery
  5. Ability to read, write and understand English
