Tip Truck overview

This RIIVEH304E – Conduct tip truck operations is for those currently working or seeking work in operational roles in Civil construction industries and will be required to operate a tip truck in the workplace.

Applicants are required to hold a valid Class C licence as a minimum. If you’ve just arrived in Australia, you can join the course with your international C-Class licence, as it’s valid for up to three months. After that, you’ll need a WA driver’s licence or an International Driver’s Licence Permit (IDP) to participate.

Students will attain the theoretical knowledge and the practical application to operate a tip truck properly and will be able to:

  • Apply environmental protection for tip truck operations.

Pre-Operational Checks

  • Perform standard start-up procedures
  • Check controls.

Operation

  • Manage hazards
  • Engine power, and gear coordination
  • Monitoring road conditions for safety.

Loading and Transporting

  • Position truck efficiently
  • Control movements
  • Assess load
  • Ensure secure transportation.

Maintenance

  • Conduct inspections
  • Replace parts
  • Perform scheduled maintenance.

Cleanup

  • Dispose of materials
  • Store equipment properly.

 

Saferight Earthmoving courses use hands-on training in real-world settings, WITHOUT the use of simulators.

You will be enrolled into the following unit of competency:

  1. Must be 18 years old and above
  2. Applicants are required to hold a valid Class C licence as a minimum. If you’ve just arrived in Australia, you can join the course with your international C-Class licence, as it’s valid for up to three months. After that, you’ll need a WA driver’s licence or an International Driver’s Licence Permit (IDP) to participate.
    1. Please note that you will need an HR (Heavy Rigid) Vehicle Licence in order to drive a Tip Truck in the metro area. Please go to the Department of Transport website to apply for this licence as it is not included in the training provided.
  3. Present a valid photo I.D. on arrival
  4. If you have any physical conditions that may affect your ability to complete a course, please visit a doctor and obtain a “Fit for Work” certificate, and send it to our bookings email.
    1. Please note, Saferight reserves the right to cancel your enrolment if this documentation is not provided and you are deemed unfit for training. Additionally, cancellation fees will apply if adequate notice is not given.
  5. Wear steel cap boots, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt
  6. Bring along a hi-vis vest
  7. Ability to read, write and understand English
    1. Saferight is dedicated to supporting all students, including those with Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) needs. If your LLN skills are assessed as needing improvement to meet the course requirements, we may recommend additional support or training to help you succeed. If you have any concerns about your LLN skills, we encourage you to contact us before enrolling.
  8. Individuals holding a student visa are not eligible to enrol in, participate in, or attend this course, whether face-to-face or online, as Saferight is not registered with CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students). Student visa holders are encouraged to seek training with a CRICOS-registered institution to meet their requirements. For more information please click here.

On successful completion of this Grader Ticket course, students will receive a:

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) must be supplied and verified prior to issuance. 

Obtaining this ticket does not authorise you to operate this machine on public roads unless you hold a Heavy Rigid (HR) licence. You are only permitted to drive the machine within your worksite. If you need to obtain an HR licence, visit: Department of Transport WA – Heavy Rigid Licence.

This tip truck training course will utilise the DR2-0110S model.

  • Students will be provided with morning tea and refreshments for all courses run at Saferight.
  • Saferight has kitchen facilities, fridges and microwaves for people who wish to bring their own lunch.
