All students enrolling in an accredited Saferight course must complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test. This ensures you have the skills needed to successfully complete your training and safely perform workplace tasks.
The LLN test is a national requirement under ASQA standards for accredited training. It ensures all students have the necessary reading, writing, communication, and numeracy skills to complete the course successfully. It is mandatory for all accredited courses at Saferight (excluding VOCs and non-accredited programs).
A minimum score of 80% is required to pass the LLN test.
If you do not pass on your first attempt, you may sit one re-assessment test.
If you fail the re-assessment, you will not be permitted to participate in the course.
Depending on your course, you will be assigned the appropriate test level:
Level 2–3 Test – Required for most courses, including General, Earthmoving, Fire, Driving, High Risk and most Crane courses.
You can complete your LLN test in two ways:
Online via the aXcelerate Learner Portal (recommended before your course date).
Paper-based version on the day of training (30-minute duration).
Interpreter Support – If you require a translator or interpreter, they may only read the questions aloud. All answers must be given by you independently.
You will be reminded to complete the test before your course date.
If you arrive without having completed it online, you will be required to complete a paper-based version on the day of training.
Students who do not attempt the LLN test cannot continue in the course.
If you do not pass the first test:
You will be offered a LLN Re-Test (12 questions, 30 minutes).
A minimum of 80% is required to pass.
If you fail the re-test, you cannot continue with the course and will need to re-book after receiving additional LLN support.
If you successfully complete a Level 4 LLN test, you are exempt from having to complete lower-level LLN tests for future courses at Saferight.
