Updated Licence Requirements for 4WD & Light Vehicle Training in Perth

Looking to get qualified for 4WD training in Perth or enrol in a Light Vehicle course in WA? Saferight has updated its course entry requirements to ensure all participants meet Australian legal standards and can safely operate vehicles during training. These changes apply to both our 4WD training courses and our Light Vehicle training course in Perth.

Updated Entry Requirements for 4WD Training in Perth

Our 4WD training courses in Perth – RIIVEH305F – Operate and Maintain a 4WD Vehicle and TLIC0023 – Operate Four Wheel Drive Vehicle – now require participants to:

  • Hold a current Australian driver’s licence (C Class or higher) – either provisional (P) or full licence.
  • Ensure your licence is valid in the state or territory where the course is delivered.
  • Bring your licence with you on the first day of training.

Please note: International or overseas licences are not accepted. A learner’s permit is not sufficient – you must hold at least P-plates or a full licence before enrolling.

These requirements make sure you are legally allowed to drive during the course and keep all participants safe in both on-road and off-road training environments. This is particularly important for students preparing for mining, construction, and FIFO roles in WA, where 4WD competency is essential.

Updated Entry Requirements for Light Vehicle Training

For those enrolling in our Light Vehicle course in Perth (RIIVEH201E – Operate a Light Vehicle), students must:

  • Hold a current Australian driver’s licence (C Class or higher) – either provisional (P) or full licence.
  • Bring your licence with you on the first day of training.

Please note: International licences are not accepted. Learner’s permits are not sufficient – you must hold at least P-plates or a full licence.

Why These Licence Requirements Matter

These updates ensure all participants in our vehicle operator training in Perth are legally compliant and properly prepared for practical assessments. By enforcing these standards, Saferight is maintaining the highest levels of safety and compliance, ensuring students are job-ready for industries where operating light vehicles and 4WDs is a daily requirement.
