Statutory Supervisor WHS Risk Management overview
The Statutory Supervisor program provides essential WHS and risk management training for aspiring mining supervisors in Western Australia. The program covers two Units of Competency, in line with the requirements outlined in Schedule 26 of the WHS (Mines) Regulations (WA) 2022, as mandated by WorkSafe.
In addition to completing these two Units of Competency, successful participants are also required to pass an examination. This examination is administered by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS). For more information about this examination, please refer to the official DMIRS website.
Students will attain the practical application and knowledge required to become a Statutory Supervisor, including:
- Inform the team about WHS policies and procedures.
- Oversee team’s WHS consultation arrangements.
- Manage WHS training procedures for the team.
- Enforce procedures and legal norms for hazard identification and risk management.
- Maintain WHS records.
- Access data for hazard identification and risk assessment.
- Assist in identifying risk management and compliance needs.
- Participate in workplace hazard identification and WHS risk assessment.
- Aid in developing and implementing risk controls.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of risk controls.

On successful completion of this course, students will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit below:
- BSBWHS411 – Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs
- BSBWHS414 – Contribute to WHS risk management
The Unique Student Identifier (USI) must be supplied and verified prior to issuance.

Main eligibility criteria include: Reference and project details of 6 months of construction work in WA out of the past 12 months prior to your course commencement with Saferight.
