A CB (Bridge and Gantry Crane) High Risk Work Licence is required under Schedule 3 of the Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 when operating a bridge or gantry crane that is either controlled from a permanent cabin/control station, or remotely operated with more than three powered movements.
This includes the application of load estimation and slinging techniques to safely move loads.
For example, a single hoist crane with four powered movements (such as traversing, travelling, hoisting and rotating), or multiple hoists with combined movements exceeding three (e.g. two hoists with five or more movements), will require a CB licence.
